Catching up

Gosh, it's almost time for summer break to be over:( It has gone by really fast for us. We have stayed busy with a couple of different trips to Scottsdale for a little relaxation. First with friends and then again with family.

We have spent many hours in the pool. Besides getting a good tan, our two oldest LOVE the water. Peyton is full on swimming with no assistance. Carlee ditched her floaties and is becoming quite the little mermaid! Lincoln on the other hand, only wants in the water if he is being held. He hates his little float. He screams when you put him in it. He is content to sit in the shade and eat snacks:)

Kyle, Holly, and the girls came for a visit. We stayed at a really cool resort in Scottsdale. They are so much fun! We enjoy every second we get to spend with them! They are pretty much just like us, but older:) HE HE!! I hope we can live near them again!! We can truly be ourselves with them.

Lincoln had his one year check up. He is weighing in at 23 pounds these days. My mom and I are convinced that he is double that! He is such a little tornado! That is my new nickname for him. He destroys everything in his path! He is always in destructive mode. He will go room to room and throw things around and then leave. He whines a lot these days. I like to think that it's his teeth. He is getting more to add to his big collection!

Speaking of teeth, Peyton lost another tooth! He looks kind of funny. He has his two front teeth(which are a little large) and then no teeth beside them! We call him chicklets:) It is hard to believe he is going into second grade! Time is going way to fast around here, this mama ain't happy!

Carlee is getting sassier by the day. The things that come out of her mouth are so mature and sometimes not appropriate and a little rude! I think she spent too much time around her older cousins. She is saying things that I have heard them say. But she's still our little princess! She is so into fashion, although some of her wardrobe decisions are questionable!?!?! She has to match and have a bow. She also insists on wearing shoes in the house! She can talk her way into getting anything she wants! Dave and I are concerned about this:/

That's all we know these days! Things are slowing down a little, which is nice! Dave and I are excited about our little date tomorrow night. We are meeting some friends for happy hour then we are heading to watch 'Bad Teacher'. Should be fun to watch, especially with a bunch of teachers!!

Too tired to post pics! This is why I don't blog sometimes because loading pics takes too long! If you want to see pics from our trip, check out my facebook page!

Stay cool, especially tomorrow in the 117 degree heat!

Exciting Plans for the summer

This summer we have BIG plans! It is so exciting I can not believe we are finally able to do something this exciting!! Are you curious????

We are finally accomplishing our huge to do list:) I know, not the excitement we really were hoping for! We have been putting off things because there is never enough time. Well, since we are both teachers and get the luxury of having summers free, we decided to finish some projects!

I am really lucky to have such a handy husband! He can pretty much do everything, and if he has never tried, that doesn't stop him! He researches and asks around and the next thing you know, it's done!!

Here and there I have been purging closets, getting more organized, and redecorating a few things. Dave is building a closet and a door for my mom's room. In just one day he was able to get the frame built and wire ran for the new outlets. Did I mention that he is even making a cut out with an accent light too:) So proud to have a handy Carpenter;)

What else....

I found an awesome deal and a local thrift store....a huge leather ottamon to match our leather living room set. Even the legs are identical:) You should have seen my face when I spotted it! I am sure I looked silly when I kinda jumped and squealed!

I am currently trying to sell my high top table with four chairs, because I found a new one:) Since our family has grown, it is hard for all of us to eat at the table at the same time. I found a long table with four chairs and a bench:) Now we can all fit! I just got to convince Dave:)

We purchased a small pool for the kids to play around in this summer. It gets so stinking hot here that we have to do something. They LOVE it! It's the perfect size and I feel safe with them in it!

Gotta run! Pics from our Pool Play date coming later:)

Weekend Getaway

School is finally out! It was a long and stressful school year for all of us! What better way to unwind than to head up to Scottsdale to Chaparral Suites where we stepped outside our suite and were literally at the pool, had free meals the whole stay, and 2 hours of free happy hour:) That is what I call relaxation!

What was even better, we went along with several friends!! There were about 20 or so people in our party:) I am sure the staff was happy to see us roll out! The kids all swam their little hearts out and exhausted themselves to a decent bedtime. The adults sat around, chatted, played dominoes, and pretended like we were awesome singers and dancers!!

It was gorgeous weather! The sun was bright, but a wonderful breeze was present throughout our stay. I was so concerned about keeping sunscreen on the kids that I neglected to stay lubed up. I have some pretty severe burns on my shoulders and chest:( Lesson learned!

The kids were sad to say goodbye to our little mini vacation! It's ok, we are planning a trip back there before school starts:) That's how much fun we had!!

Here are a few pics from our weekend!
